All the genera and species within genera are arranged alphabetically. Each taxon is provided with currently accepted name, full citation, basionyms, and synonyms reported from India.
The information like habitat, distribution, chemistry and notes on known taxa, and habit photographs of most of the representative genera are also provided in this checklist to make it useful to all concerned. Besides, state-wise and region-wise published references on lichen taxonomy and floristic studies are provided. 12 new combinations and 15 new synonyms have been proposed in this book."
